Our Mission
Genesis is dedicated to creating an open and affirming environment for all artists. We exist to provide support and visibility for our local creative communities, and actively seek to develop diverse networks of makers and thought leaders for a better, more equitable Milwaukee.
Our Story
Genesis is a curatorial project developed in 2018 by Milwaukee based artist Randy Russell Brown. Originally located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Genesis was established out of a desire to help decolonize the city's creative community. Since our inception, we have dedicated our practice to creating a platform that elevates the art and cultural output of Milwaukee's emerging BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ creatives.
Due to the onset of COVID-19, Genesis has taken a hiatus from facilitating events and activations. We have since directed our efforts and resources to endeavors that explore alternative modes of creation.
